Steakhouse Owner Finds Love at Restaurant

A Palm Beach steakhouse owner is getting married in December to a woman he was introduced to at his restaurant. Andrea Kotsifos has been the recipient of well wishes by patrons enjoying the restaurant’s meal deals.

Is it the giddiness inherent with falling in love and anticipating imminent nuptials that has Palm Beach Steakhouse owner Andreas Kotsifos offering oh-so-sweet dining deals at his elegant restaurant?

Not really, although you might think so given how thrilled he is about his December wedding, when he’ll tie the knot with Heather Farmakis, a Lynn University adjunct professor, at Royal Poinciana Chapel.

“About two years ago,” Kotsifos says, “a mutual friend introduced us at the restaurant during one of our Greek nights.” (The Palm Beach Steakhouse features Greek cuisine, singing and belly-dancing on Thursdays.)

Was it love at first sight? “You know, I think it was,” Kotsifos says.

Patrons at the Palm Beach Steakhouse are extending best wishes to Kotsifos — and often while partaking in the restaurant’s dining deals, which include:

Owner of Morton’s Dies at 65

Allen Bernstein, the owner of the famous Morton’s of Chicago, has passed away at the age of 65. Mr. Bernstein is responsible for helping to make Morton’s into a popular and upscale steakhouse chain.

Allen J. Bernstein, who showed that high-end restaurants can succeed as chains by expanding Morton’s of Chicago from nine steakhouses in 1989 to 69 worldwide in 2006, has died. He was 65.

He died on Nov. 1 at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York, after an extended illness, according to Castle Harlan Inc., a New York-based private-equity firm that backed his ventures. He was a resident of Manhasset.

Once described by Nation’s Restaurant News as “a prolific deal-maker,” Bernstein wrote his college thesis on restaurant branding and then made a career of it.
